‘Do you think he’ll do it?’
Lee shifts awkwardly against the oppressive weight of the situation as it presses down around him, closes off his throat, restricts his breathing. He feels dazzled by the magnitude of what is happening, by the realisation that this… is beyond his control.
‘Do you think he’ll pull the trigger, love?’ Darren whispers, hunches closer to his ear, the smile of hope in his voice as they watch the distant scene of Aaron and Ben upon the secluded beach. ‘Do you think they love us enough to trust us with their very lives?’
‘Do you?’
